A masia between two volcanoes in the Garrotxa
Les Cols is a restaurant with two Michelin stars in Olot, inside the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. It is run by chef Fina Puigdevall, who was born in the house: Mas Les Cols, a masia from the 15th century. The land is called El Prat and lies between two volcanoes, Garrinada and Aigua Negra. The team organises weddings here under the name Les Cols Events.
The ceremony takes place on the old threshing floor and in the gardens of the masia, with its centuries-old facade behind you. The celebration happens in La Carpa, a space on the former fields of the masia. It was designed by the architects RCR Aranda Pigem Vilalta (Pritzker Prize 2017) as a piece of landscape, surrounded by earth slopes and trees. It is a series of spaces: some with a transparent roof, some under a reed trellis, some air-conditioned. The aperitif is served in the open-air gardens, and if it rains there is a large open and sheltered area.
The menu follows the cooking of Fina Puigdevall, based on the seasons and the Garrotxa landscape. The aperitif has tasting bars with local seasonal products, some with the producer present, plus sushi and oyster bars. The menus mix traditional and avant-garde dishes, with show cooking and a wide choice of wines, cavas and cocktails. The team can also bring the same food to another venue.

The old threshing floor with the masia facade is a simple, strong background for the ceremony. In July and August plan it for late afternoon, as the middle of the day is hot. Under the reed trellis of La Carpa the light breaks into stripes of sun and shade. This looks good in photos but changes quickly, so ask the team where the sun falls at your dinner time. The transparent roof lets you see the sky during the meal, which gives soft natural light until dusk.
The Garrotxa is a green area and showers can come in any season. Ask the team where the ceremony would move in the rain, because the website only mentions a sheltered area for the aperitif and the meal. Keep 45 to 60 minutes for portraits in the fields and trees around La Carpa.
