A 14th-century farmhouse in the Cap de Creus Natural Park
Mas Perafita is a 14th-century stone farmhouse at the Coll de Perafita, on the road from Cadaqués to Roses, between Cadaqués, Roses and El Port de la Selva. The Martín Faixó family, Rafa, Carmen, Ester, Georgina and Rafel, revived viticulture on this land in 2000, restored the farmhouse in 2003 and released their first Empordà DO wines in 2007. Their story here goes back more than 60 years, building on the legacy of their great-grandparents.

Wine, slate and the tramuntana
Around the house lie 18 hectares of vineyards on slate soils, planted with Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Picapoll and Muscat of Alexandria. Production is about 50,000 bottles a year, hand-harvested and made with minimal intervention, in wines shaped by the tramuntana wind and the nearby sea. Since 2010 wine tourism has been part of the project: tastings, guided visits, a wine bar, breakfasts and pairings among the vines, vineyard hikes and sunset events. The estate works with the Cap de Creus Natural Park on recovering local grape varieties and holds the Biosphere Committed certificate for sustainable tourism.

Staying at Mas Perafita
The farmhouse has four rooms, each with its own style, with breakfast included, and the family also runs two restaurants down in Cadaqués: Can Rafa on the seafront promenade and Enoteca MF. The family describes the estate as a place for special events in stunning natural surroundings. Contact them directly to discuss a celebration.
