A masia of 75 hectares and a long history
Masia Mas Badó is a masia in Sant Quirze Safaja, which the venue places in the Montseny, on an estate of 75 hectares with gardens, forest and walking trails. Signs of the house go back to the 11th century, and the first document that mentions it is from 1353. In 1929 it became a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. Around 1950 it became the Hotel Mas Badó, which closed around 1985. The current owner, the company Rosa dels Vents, brought back the tradition of weddings.
Couples can choose a religious ceremony in the church of Santa Maria de les Victòries, which belongs to the estate and holds up to 100 people, or a civil ceremony in the gardens, among pines and holm oaks. The aperitif is on a terrace with views, and dinner is in a bright indoor hall. Only one wedding is held per day, so you do not share the spaces with another group.
The masia also has rooms, so guests can stay on site. They have a hotel layout for 4 or 6 people, each with a bathroom and a terrace. The wedding can continue into a second day, with lunch and the pool. It is a good match for relaxed weekend weddings, with children and older guests included. The church and the gardens give two clear ceremony looks: the inside of a church for a religious ceremony, and open garden light among pines and holm oaks for a civil one. The terrace for the aperitif has views, so use it for relaxed portraits of the couple while the guests have a drink. Walk the trails with your photographer: with 75 hectares of woods and gardens, there is plenty of space for portraits away from the guests.
The website does not describe a rain plan, so ask what the alternative is for a garden ceremony and for the aperitif, and ask to see the indoor hall with the tables set to check the natural light. Because the guests stay on site, the getting-ready photos and the family moments of the morning can happen without a rush.
