A castle of more than 1,000 years in Anoia
Castell de Tous is a castle that the venue describes as more than 1,000 years old, mixing its history with modern design. It stands in Sant Martí de Tous, in the Anoia area inland from Barcelona. The castle’s weddings are organised by UAUU weddings & events, a company based in Igualada that runs four wedding venues near Barcelona.
The ceremony can be a civil one in the castle gardens, surrounded by nature, or a religious one in the castle’s own church. The cocktail is served in the landscaped courtyard, which has views. Lunch or dinner can be held in the interior hall, which has large windows facing the garden, or outdoors in the landscaped area under the stars. The website says there is a plan B for rain, but it does not describe it, so ask what it looks like.
The castle suits couples who want a historic building with the ceremony, dinner and party in the same place, and who like the idea of a church ceremony. Visits are by appointment, and the website offers a virtual tour first, which helps if you live abroad.
For your photos
The gardens and the church give two very different ceremony settings: open garden light for a civil ceremony, and the inside of the church for a religious one, which will be darker, so choose the time of day early. The landscaped courtyard, where the cocktail is served, is the best place for relaxed photos of the guests with the views behind them.
The interior hall has large windows facing the garden, so a daytime lunch has soft natural light, while a dinner depends on the room’s own lighting. A night celebration is worth planning: a couple quoted on the venue’s website says the castle has a special charm at night, so ask where lights can be placed in the garden. Because the rain plan is not described, ask to see it before you choose the date.
