An intimate wedding weekend in a 12th-century masia
Mas Campassol is a masia from the 12th century in the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, near Sant Feliu de Pallerols. It stands at 613 metres above sea level, in a sunny valley, on 43 hectares of woods, meadows and paths. It is also a project to protect nature and animals: two shelters on the land, one for rescued animals and one for biodiversity, are managed by the Fundació Empatia. The venue says that all profits go to social projects and that a wedding here supports them.
Weddings are small and last a whole weekend. The venue offers two formats: an intimate wedding of up to 30 people and an exclusive wedding of 30 to 60 people. The ceremony is outdoors in the gardens, or on the historic threshing floor with the masia behind you. A third option is the Romanesque church, 3 minutes away by car or 20 minutes on foot through the woods. The nine suites sleep up to 20 guests. The large ground-floor hall opens onto a terrace and the pool, with views of the woods and the meadow.
The food is local: buffet breakfasts, catering or a chef at the masia with show cooking, and lunches and dinners at a partner restaurant. Drinks include craft beers and organic wines from nearby.

The threshing floor with the 12th-century stone behind you is the strongest setting for the ceremony. At 613 metres the air is usually cooler than on the coast, and the valley is sunny, so the afternoon light works well for portraits on the terrace and in the meadow. If you choose the church, plan 20 minutes for the walk in good shoes, or use cars if you have older guests.
The weekend format gives you time, so you can do your portraits in the morning on one day and keep the evening for your guests. If it rains, the large ground-floor hall is the indoor option, so ask whether it fits your ceremony.
