A fortress on a Roman villa in Parets del Vallès
Castell Torre Cellers is a castle in Parets del Vallès, 23 km from Barcelona and 7 km from Granollers. The site has been inhabited since Iberian-Roman times, and the fortress stands on a Roman villa called Villa Abdela, on the Via Augusta. It was rebuilt in the 14th century and withstood some attacks in the Guerra dels Segadors (1640 to 1652). The building has a square plan from the 12th century, a medieval bridge for access and two cylindrical towers topped with battlements. In 1999 it was recognised as the best-preserved castle in Catalonia.
