A modernist house facing the walls of Tossa de Mar
Hotel Diana is on Plaza de España in Tossa de Mar, in front of the beach and with a direct view of the medieval walls. The building began in 1906 as Casa Sans, a summer house for the cork merchant Joan Sans, designed by the architect Antoni de Falguera i Sivilla. It has been a hotel since 1958 and is still a family business. The façade has modernist gargoyles of the four seasons, and inside there is a courtyard with a decorated well, a marble fountain and two large palm trees.
For weddings the hotel lists five spaces. The interior courtyard (62 m²) takes 50 people at a banquet and 75 at a cocktail. The chill-out area (73.2 m²), with views of the walls, takes 75 at a cocktail. The Diana Room (47.6 m², with natural light) seats 30 and the Iris Room (41.6 m², without natural light) seats 28, and a Fireplace Room completes the list. The hotel says it looks after decoration, menu and atmosphere, and it offers a catering service, personalised menus and audio-visual equipment.
The capacities on the website are small, so Hotel Diana suits intimate and mid-sized weddings in the old town, not very large guest lists. Ask the hotel whether spaces can be combined for a larger layout.

The strongest pictures are in the chill-out area at sunset, with the walls of the Vila Vella behind you, and in the courtyard, with its palms, well and fountain. The hotel faces the beach and the walls, and in summer this part of Tossa is busy: choose early morning or the end of the day for portraits. From the door you can walk to the sand, into the cobbled streets of the old town, or up to the castle, so a short portrait walk is easy.
The Diana Room has natural light and tile floors from the original house, while the Iris Room has no natural light, so ask for the Diana Room if you want daylight indoors. The chill-out area and the courtyard may be open to the sky, so ask what the rain plan is. Set aside at least 40 minutes for portraits on foot, and remember that the streets nearby are narrow and can be crowded.
