A castle hotel among olive trees in the Baix Empordà
Castell d’Empordà is a castle hotel on a small hill near La Bisbal d’Empordà, in the inland part of the Costa Brava. The oldest document that mentions the castle is dated 1301. It stands on a property of more than 12 hectares, scattered with oak and olive trees, with wide views over the Baix Empordà. The hotel has 57 rooms, two pools and two restaurants. The beach is 20 minutes away by car.
For the ceremony you choose between the olive grove garden and the Remei Chapel. Drinks and canapés are served in the garden or on the Da.Lí terrace, which looks over the valley. Dinner is on the Pergola terrace, for up to 200 guests. Afterwards the party moves to La Cova del Drac, a bar set inside a cave. The venue says the plan works in any weather.
You can also rent the whole hotel for your wedding, but then your guests must fill all 57 rooms. Friday and Saturday are the most popular days and availability is limited. A planning and coordination team works with you.

The olive grove garden is the most open place for the ceremony, and the trees give light shade to your guests. The Remei Chapel is a good choice if the sun is strong or the weather is uncertain. After the ceremony, the Da.Lí terrace is the place to be because of the view. The hotel presents it as its sunset terrace, so ask what time the sun sets on your date and plan your couple portraits there. In July and August the middle of the day is hot, so choose a late afternoon ceremony.
The party in La Cova del Drac is inside a cave, with little daylight. Take your portraits and the main family photos before dinner, and talk to the DJ and the venue about warm lighting for the dance floor.
